Sir Karl Raimund Popper, generally regarded as one of the greatest philosophers of science of the 20th century, fought a lone battle against the Copenhagen interpretation at a time when anyone attempting to criticize orthodoxy was liable to be labeled at best an 'outsider' or at worst a crank. Even though some of Popper's detailed arguments were found to be flawed, his overall influence on the philosophy of quantum mechanics has been abundantly beneficial.
