David Hilbert is one of the most influential mathematicians of 20th century. He championed the modern axiomatic method in order to lay the foundations of proof theory and mathematical logic. Hilbert discovered and developed a broad range of mathematical theories, including the calculus of variations, functional analysis, spectral theory of operators and its application to integral equations, commutative algebra, algebraic number theory and mathematical physics. Articles for the 2022 David Hilbert issue dedicated to functional analysis and its applications to quantum mechanics will be considered if submitted before August 31, 2022. |
