GianCarlo Ghirardi

GianCarlo Ghirardi (1935–2018) was Professor Emeritus at the Department of Physics, University of Trieste, Italy and Academic Board Member of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy.
He is well known for the Ghirardi–Rimini–Weber spontaneous collapse theory of quantum mechanics and for his contributions to quantum foundations, including a derivation of the no-cloning theorem, a cornerstone of quantum information.
